This was a personal research project that played a major role in the final year of my degree. What started as a study of local heritage, became a much wider exploration of collective identity and the impact of 'public' art.
The final outcomes of this project were a series of prints (below), and my final piece; an A1 Ink and Acrylic illustration on plywood, with laser cut frame elements, and text by Hollie which I felt reflected my own thoughts.
These prints each reflected an imagined version of public artwork around my hometown of Alloa. The series above were based on the 3 Andy Scott sculptures, 'Air Spirit', 'The Journey's End, and 'River Spirit' that decorate various roundabouts. The one below takes inspiritation from Michael Visocchi's 'Pontils', also decorating a roundabout. Each is accompanied by original text which represents my own thoughts and opinions about public artworks, and on life in a post-industrial town as a whole.
